Olivier Leflaive Description
The grapes are purchased in different and complementary places called (Echards, Grands Champs, Poisots, Famines), blended directly in the tanks. The soil of Volnay is lighter and more stony than the soil of its neighbor Pommard. Volnay produces elegant and fruity wines.

The 2018 Olivier Leflaive Volnay is drinking beautifully at this stage. I am honestly surprised at its youthfulness compared to other 2018s. In the glass it is a clear garnet in color, with only very slight red brick at the rim to denote its time in bottle. The aromatic bouquet practically leaps from the glass with soaring notes of lavender, cola, ripe berry, morello cherry, and strawberry. The palate is exceptionally fresh, light-bodied with generous bright red fruit and an underlying vein of woodsy coffee leading to the dry, lingering finish. Great now, and will continue to develop for years to come.
