This is a hearty red wine with substantial tannins, a distinct earthy note, and long finish with spice and dried fruit nuances.
Louis Jadot Description
Nuits-Saint-Georges is the southernmost commune of the Côte de Nuits, with primarily limestone and marl soils. The grapes are handpicked and sorted, then undergo fermentation. After a long maceration, a proportion of the wine is set to age in French oak barrels. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
Vinous: 91 Points
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village has a generous, perfumed bouquet of ample raspberry, fig, date and melted tar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This feels quite candied in style, with blood orange and marmalade tincturing the red fruit, and a healthy dash of white pepper on the finish. Very fine for a Village Cru.
Burghound: 90 Points
Generous if not overpowering wood fights somewhat with the relatively high-toned nose of essence of red berries that is laced of earth and a nice variety of spice wisps. There is better size, weight and power to the succulent flavors that terminate in a youthfully austere and rustic finale that is shaped by firm but not hard tannins.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
A dark, blackberry- and black cherry–laced red, with earth and iron accents, a reserved character and a dense structure. Oak spice elements emerge on the lingering finish.
