Powerful yet delicate, this deeply colored wine has aromas and flavors of red berries and spice, with silky tannins and perfect structure. It should develop for five years in the bottle before being opened, and will improve for 15 to 20 years of cellaring.
Louis Jadot Description
In the commune of Aloxe-Corton, in the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, more than half of the vineyard area is Grand Cru vineyards. Les Grèves is a powerful wine with a structure similar to that of Côte de Nuits wines. The southeast exposure and siliceous soil gives power and delicacy to the wine. Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, then the wine is matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Vinous: 94 Points
The 2020 Corton-Greves Grand Cru has a well-defined with smoky red berry fruit, just a light hickory note here (possibly emanating from the barrel.) The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine grip, nicely balanced with a fresh, slightly citric finish that lends tension and elegance.
Burghound: 94 Points
Here too there is ample, but not really invasive, oak and menthol influences to the earthier and more sauvage-inflected aromas of ripe red and dark berry aromas. The succulent, round and fleshy big-bodied flavors also possess evident muscle on the less mineral-driven but equally powerful finish that is shaped by an equally firm tannic spine. Patience is an absolute must.
