Domaine Louis Jadot
Louis Jadot Description
This 125-acre Grand Cru vineyard faces east on a range of soils, from chalky and stony clay on the higher parts of the slope to moist, rich, compact soils on the lower slope. Jadot owns just over 5 acres of the Clos. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented for up to 4 weeks in tanks, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months.
Wine Enthusiast: 96 Points
Notes of ripe, red cherry on the nose of this wine are displayed with fresh-faced purity. The palate adds supple richness, offering dense, supple tannin that serves as a concentrated backdrop for the lovely fruit. Freshness pervades everything and highlights the slight, delicious crunch of the youthful tannins. This all comes together in unforced, juicy harmony.
James Suckling: 94 Points
Aromas and flavors of black currant, black cherry, violet and spice are backed by a solid spine of tannins in this supple, yet muscular red. The tannins are assertive now, leaving a dusting of chalk and cocoa on the finish.

Wine Advocate: 93 Points
Revisited in bottle, the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, sweet soil tones and warm spices. Full-bodied, muscular and tightly wound, with lively acids and prodigious reserves of fine, chalky tannins, this is a serious, structured Clos Vougeot unapologetically built for the long haul. For the patient, everything suggests there's considerable upside, but this is not a wine to "pop and pour" any time in the next decade.
