Prunotto - Barbaresco Secondine 2018 (750ml)
Prunotto Description
Secondine shows a ruby-garnet color to the eye along with light brick highlights. The nose is complex with notes of raspberries and roses which unite with sensations of tobacco, white pepper and liquorice. The palate is elegantly structured and balanced, silky in its tannic texture and sweet.
Vinous: 94 Points
The 2018 Barbaresco Secondine is classy, polished, and poised from the first taste. The Secondine is a wine of nobility and reserve, in other words, super classic Barbaresco. I find its introspective personality quite appealing. Rose petal, mint, sweet red cherry and blood orange open effortlessly with some coaxing. Its great to see Prunotto making wines of this level.
James Suckling: 93 Points
This is very perfumed and seductive with aromas of flowers, plums and some rosewood. Medium body with fine tannins and a pretty finish. Minerally and citrus undertones at the end. Gorgeous now.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
From a little-known MGA site in the village of Barbaresco, the 2018 Barbaresco Secondine is a new submission from Prunotto. The wine opens to a lean consistency and a bright ruby color. Aromas of forest berry, cassis and sweet cranberry set the tone for a delicate and elegantly streamlined expression of Nebbiolo. The tannic power of the wine is also contained, and you are best off drinking it young.
