The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is youthfully restrained, forcing the taster to work for its aromatic blend of persona to reveal a core of red currants and dusty rose. It washes across the palate with silken textures, soft and pillowly, with depths of dark red fruit and mineral tones quided by vibrant acidity. This leaves a croating of fine tannins lingering, closing down hard through the finish with orange and clove hints. The 2020 needs cellaring to show its best, as it holds its power in reserve today.

This is ripe but fresh with cherries, currants, dark spices, walnuts and bark on the nose, following through to a medium body with steady acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins, that are crunchy and chalky. Vivid and attractive.
