Poderi Aldo Conterno - Barolo Bussia 2019 (750ml)
Poderi Aldo Conterno Description
The Poderi Aldo Conterno winery is situated in Bussia of Monforte d'Alba which is the heart of the Barolo wine area. The estate, which vinifies exclusively its own grapes, consists of 25 hectares of vineyard. Most of the soil, which is at an altitude of 350 - 400 m. above the sea level, is located South / South - West and is composed of clayey marls and limestone with layers of sand. The yields per hectare are very low and the total production is about 80.000 bottles a year. The harvest begins in mid September and done exclusively by hand with a very careful selection of the picked grapes. Always following a strict family tradition, red wines are neither clarified nor filtered.
Wine Spectator: 95 Points
Rich and generous, this red delivers cherry, raspberry, rose and sweet spice aromas and flavors. Harmonious and charming, with bright acidity and beautifully integrated tannins, this firms up on the long, vanilla-tinged finish.
James Suckling: 94 Points
I like the perfumed aromas here with lots of fresh roses to the cherry and strawberry character. Medium-bodied with tight and fine tannins that spread across the palate and deliver brightness and focus. Citrusy aftertaste.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2019 Barolo Bussia is redolent of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, mint, spice, sweet pipe tobacco, and orange peel. Firm and sinewy, with veins of insistent supporting tannin, the 2019 is a terrific example of the vintage and this bottling. Impressive. And gorgeous.
