The wine offers a bouquet focused on vegetal nuances, enhanced by notes of green tea and pomelo citrus. At the end of the tasting, we feel the full and silky texture of this wine.
Olivier Leflaive Description
Auxey-Duresses is probably, in Burgundy, one of the sanctuaries of Celtic and Gallo-Roman vineyard. This former outbuilding of Cluny Abbey once shared its activity between grain mills and wine press.
Auxey-Duresses is located at the threshold of a valley which, from the Côte de Beaune, plunges into the Hautes Côtes on the road to La Rochepot and Autun. Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée established in 1937. Nature clearly demarcates reds and whites. As an extension of Volnay and Monthélie, the Bourdon mountain has a very stony marl-limestone base which gives its impetus to the Duresses, Climat exposed east and south-east. Very limestone, the Climat of the Val faces the south. The marl prevails over the limestone at La Chapelle. The fineness of the soil of Mont Mélian announces Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, paradise for white wines.

Here too there is just enough wood to merit mentioning suffusing the equally fresh aromas of green apple, wet stone and citrus shavings. The succulent and caressing yet decidedly punchy medium-bodied flavors display touches of both austerity and rusticity on the bone-dry, focused and mineral-driven finale. This is lovely for its level and while it's not refined, that's not why one buys Auxey blanc.
