60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay
Daniel Hernandez-Brun for K&D: 96 Points
The Nicolas Maillart Grand Cru Rose, disgorged in July of 2021, is a phenomenal Extra Brut Champagne. Its salmon color has reflections of golden hue in the glass, while the aromatic bouquet expresses notes of strawberry, peach, lilac, and rose petal. The palate is mouthfilling, with a beautiful creamy texture, very fine silky bubbles, and strawberry and red fruit flavors that persist through the dry, very long finish.
Wine Advocate: 92 Points
The new release of Maillart's NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is based on the 2015 vintage, complemented by one-third reserve wines, and was disgorged in October 2019 with six grams per liter dosage. Bursting from the glass with expressive aromas of ripe red apples, pears, plums and fresh bread, it's fleshy and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit, ripe but racy acids and a nicely defined finish. Vinous and charming, it's a blend of 60% Pinot Noir (some 7% of which is still red wine) and 40% Chardonnay, all from Bouzy.
Vinous: 92 Points
Deeply pitched scents of redcurrant, orange pith, musky rhubarb, and buttered toast. Densely packed red berry flavors are underscored by a chalky mineral note and pick up a hint of white pepper as the wine opens up. This lithe rose packs a serious punch, finishing with excellent cut and length and repeating minerality.
