Masi - Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2019 (750ml)
Masi Costasera is a very dark ruby red, with aromas of baked fruit, plums and cherries. Fruity tastes, with hints of coffee and cocoa. Very well balanced. Excellent as an after-dinner wine, or to go with red meat, game, quails and richly flavoured dishes. Very good with well-aged cheeses, such as parmesan, pecorino and gorgonzola.
Masi Description
Proud, majestic, complex and exuberant: this is Masi's gentle giant. A benchmark for the Amarone category, which, together with Barolo and Brunello, makes up the aristocracy of the Italian wine world. The product of Masi's unrivalled expertise in the appassimento technique, whereby traditional grapes for the Valpolicella Classica area - Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara - are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months.

Cellar Selection
A whirlwind of cherry pie filling aromas, red plum, and a sprinkle of clove, anise, and cinnamon combine into a spice rack and a fruit basket in the glass. But wait, there's more, this wine hits your taste buds, it's an elegant explosion of dried leaf pile jumping, dark chocolate indulgence, and a blackberry festa. The tannins? They're so well-behaved, you'd think they were at a fancy dinner party. An Amarone that'll make you want to do a little happy dance.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Rich and spicy on the nose with dried-berry, plum, walnut and bark aromas and flavors. Lush and velvety on the palate with depth and generosity to the fruit. Sweetish, chocolatey aftertaste. Chunky. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
Savory on the nose, with iron, grilled herb, tar and earth notes that underscore the palate's wild cherry and cranberry fruit flavors. Firm, chewy tannins and tangy balsamico acidity are a well-knit frame for this sanguine red. Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella.
