Dark and dense ruby color. Refined and complex aroma with a touch of cherry, vanilla and soft toasted notes. Balanced in the mouth, where the silky and well-defined tannins are combined with exquisite flavours to reveal a pleasant fullness.
Wine Enthusiast: 93 Points
A bouquet of blackberry and chocolate-covered orange peel drifts upward from this inky garnet-colored wine. It feels juicy on the palate at first, with flavors of black cherry and raspberry that are quickly joined by notes of clove, bittersweet chocolate, and black olives. Durable tannins linger in a fruit-filled finish.
James Suckling: 91 Points
A tight and slightly chewy Rioja Reserva that delivers well-judged spice and new leather to the red plums and cherries on the nose. Medium to full body with some granular tannins that will soften more in two years. Best after 2024.
Daniel Hernandez-Brun for K&D: 91 Points
The ’17 Rioja Reserva is a deep garnet in color, and displays an aromatic bouquet of brambly black fruit, leather, leaf tobacco, and dark chocolate. All textbook Tempranillo. It is medium-bodied, with taut black fruit notes and a drying mouthfeel, then the finish takes off and maintains its presence with lingering earth notes that do not overstay their welcome.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
A well-knit, medium-bodied red, with light, taut tannins trimming notes of crushed black cherry, baked fig and hints of dark chocolate, tobacco, and minerals. Not a powerhouse, but rather fresh and elegant throughout, suggesting this is perfect for sipping or pairing with food. Drink now.
