Red fruit notes of wild strawberry and cranberry are infused with hints of bramble, earth, and subtle spice. While this wine will easily age for 5 – 8 years, the subtle tension and vivid fruit are quite enjoyable when young.

Clos des Gatsulards is a steep parcel of 7.36 acres at the top of the slope at 400 meters elevation in central Santenay. Vines are ideally exposed to the south, planted in shallow gray limestone soils, and subject to windy conditions which prevent most vine diseases.

The 2020 Santenay Clos des Gatsulards Monopole (Domaine Gagey) is a particular success, delivering aromas of raspberries, orange rind, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with velvety tannins and a nicely defined finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.

The 2020 Santenay Clos des Gatsulards has more amplitude and complexity on the nose compared to the Clos de Malte: fleshy ripe red cherries and cran berry on the nose, becoming more plummy with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied sensual ripe tannins, vivacious red fruit and a harmonious finish. Just delicious!
