The 2016 Jadot Chambolle-Musigny Villages is superb. One thing I have always appreciated about the Villages level wines of Louis Jadot is that they always include a fair amount of Premier Cru fruit. This 2016 is fresh as a daisy today, and the wine will continue to develop in bottle for years to come thanks to the deft use of new oak that the Jadot team likes to integrate. The wine is a clear garnet in the glass, with no sign of bricking at the rim at this stage. An aromatic bouquet of rasberry, cherry, and red and purple flowers leads to classic hints of truffle and forest floor. The palate is fresh, vibrant, and surprisingly youthful. The oak has fully integrated at this point, lending structure and maintaing freshness and vivacity, finishing long and bright.
