Green-tinged pale yellow. Vaulted and expressive aromas of newly blossomed citrus, verbena, chalk and soil driven underpinnings. Transitions to gregarious expressions redolent of ripe yellow stone fruits near the back end of the aromatics. All drive through to a broad generous palate, spined by well-proportioned natural acidity. An impressively tactile wine that finishes with great mineral tension.
Kistler Description
Bottled since 2009. Straddling a south facing hilltop comprised of Gold ridge soils, like the Vine Hill and Dutton vineyards, but the finest grained sand of any of those sites. A soil influenced Chardonnay noted by vaulted green-orchard and yellow-citrus fruit aromatics, resounding minerality and complex earthy sulfides.
James Suckling: 96 Points
A very subtle and refined Kistler with sliced cooked apples, pie crust and light caramel with peach pie undertones. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a complex flavor profile at the end. Already approachable, but will be better in a year or two.
Vinous: 95 Points
The 2022 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is powerful yet restrained at the same time. Lifted floral notes, crushed rocks, mint, sage, dried herbs, tangerine peel and slate open over time. In the glass, the 2022 is a Chardonnay of notable finesse. I especially admire the energy here. Give this time to unwind.
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
The 2022 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is luxurious for its detail and delicacy. Its aromas bloom dramatically from matchstick and toast to wafts of apricot, jasmine and panna cotta. It offers a seamless balance of textural creaminess and taut acidity, and it has a long, perfumed finish.
