Leafy and stony notes make this a pretty attractive and full of Weinviertel characteristics. The palate is pretty fruity, lush and round, with a ripe and integrated acidity and a charming texture. Intensely fruity and mouth filling but with a good tannin structure and finesse.
Ingrid Groiss Description
For centuries, the Groiss family has grown grapes in Austria’s largest wine-growing region, Niederösterreich (Lower Austria), and more specifically in the northern subregion of Weinviertel. This area, known for its diverse terroirs and loess soils, produces excellent white wines from indigenous grape varieties, including Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, and Gemischter Satz (a traditional field blend). Weingut Ingrid Groiss operates as a true small family business with Ingrid at the helm, her father helping with tractor work, and her mother assisting in the vineyards. The family oversees 20 hectares (49.4 acres) of organic vineyards, crafting a focused range of wines, including four single vineyard wines grown on 50-year-old vines. Ingrid Groiss studied winemaking at Universität für Bodenkultur and returned home to eventually inherit vineyards from both her mother’s and father’s sides of the family. Upon taking over the family vineyards, Ingrid converted them to organics and narrowed their range to produce only wines that reflected their terroir, grape variety, and vintage.
James Suckling: 92 Points
Perfumed aromas of apricot stones, white flowers, papayas and lime curd. Creamy and medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and delicious floral elements. So elegant and fresh. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap.
