Emidio Pepe Montepulciano is a well-structured and robust wine, elegant from the early years and able to surprise if allowed to evolve. It has an intense ruby red color at sight. The nose excites with lively hints of ripe red fruit. On the palate it appears soft and round, with a good tannic texture and a persistence of spices and fruit that make the finish particularly long and juicy.
Emidio Pepe Description
Located in northern abruzzo, Emidio Pepe's estate has been producing excellent wines since the 1960s, arguably the best in the region. Emidio Pepe built his success on his own, starting work on a one-hectare plot in 1964. Today, his daughter and granddaughter accompany him on the estate, which has grown to 15 hectares. He vinifies in neutral concrete vats, and presses the grapes by hand or by foot, as his ancestors did. Applying precepts borrowed from biodynamics, emidio pepe produces wines that reflect the region's particularly interesting terroir, very typical, racy and elegant.
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is “the king” of the Abruzzo varietals. Emidio Pepe describes it as the wine of the future for its immediate beauty and his aging potential.
