Wine Advocate: 92 Points
Matured in 100% new oak, the 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has clean and pure blackberry and Bakewell tart aromas on the nose that gradually unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, mineral-driven with fine tension and a keen line of acidity on the structured finish. This is very fine.
Vinous: 91 Points
Dark red-ruby. The nose displays an almost port-like ripeness to teh aromas of black cherry, bitter chocolate, and licorice. Rich, dense, and sweet in the mouth, displaying excellent depth and a suggestion of chocolatey ripeness to its dark berry and black cherry fruit flavors. With more obvious underlying mienrality than the basic village offering, this wine finishes with notable finesse. An excellent village offering.
Burghound: 90 Points
Outstanding
This is both aromatically fresh and expressive with its attractively layered mix of red and dark berries that is liberally laced with notes of earth, humus and underbrush plus a hint of wood spice. The lush and velvety yet quite muscular medium weight flavors possess slightly better mid-palate concentration along with firm supporting tannins on the lingering and reasonably well-balanced finale where hints of warmth and wood surface. Overall though this is an excellent effort will need at least a few years of bottle age to unwind before it will drink well.
