Delamotte - Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne NV (750ml)
Foremost a mineral wine, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV has textbook chalkiness; with time in the glass showing its complexity from the lees and white flesh fruit.
On its own, with fresh oysters, elegant saltwater fish or simply with fresh radishes with a touch of fleur de sel, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs is a versatile wine as an aperitif or at the table.

Croissants, toasted sourdough, white pears, acacia and lemon meringue pie. Salty almond notes on the palate. Deliciously saline and creamy, with silky bubbles and a gently toasty finish.

The latest release of Delamotte's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs, the house's emblematic bottling, is once again showing very well, bursting with aromas of citrus zest, freshly baked bread, nougat, crisp stone fruit and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, ample and pillowy, with a fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it's a seamless, elegant wine that concludes with a flavorful finish.

Based on the Côte des Blancs, the Champagne home of Chardonnay, it’s logical that this producer should make a fine Blanc de Blancs. This wine has all the attributes, with crisp apple and a mineral texture that is tightly prominent. This is a fine wine, just hinting at toastiness.

The NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs is based on 80% 2017, with 20% reserve wine (a larger percentage that Delamotte has been using over the past several years due to climate change). The wine comes from the three villages of Avize, Oger, and Mesnil sur Oger and pours a pale but bright yellow hue. Expressive on opening, floral aromas as well as notes of poached pear, fresh honeysuckle, almond, and lemon sherbet lift from the glass. Medium-bodied, with a refined mousse, it has even acidity through the palate and has a chalky texture, with a good linear drive through the finish. With 7 grams per liter dosage, it’s attractively balanced and rounds out the palate in a lovely way.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
A lovely aperitif-style Champagne for the fine mousse and graceful integration of minerally overtones, with lively acidity and notes of Anjou pear, blanched almond, oyster shell and white blossoms. Creamy finish.
Burghound: 92 Points
An elegant, pure and overtly citrusy nose offers additional breadth in the form of green apple, quinine, and notably more evident floral nuances along with yeasty hints. The highly energetic and wonderfully refined middle weight flavors are supported by a markedly firmer, and finer, mousse on the very dry but not really austere finale. This is a wine that could be enjoyed now for its youthful vivacity and punch or easily held for 5 to 8 years if you enjoy a more mature expression, which is what I would suggest. Lovely.
