A rich and compelling nose of blackberry, cassis, smoky leather and dried herbs is enhanced with layers of plum and cherry, cocoa and sandalwood. Notes of pencil lead and crushed rock mingle with subtle nuances of sage and menthol. Bold and full bodied, this wine is structured firmly around a solid core of boysenberry and cherry fruit. Supple, ripe tannins provide ample backbone for the layers of boysenberry, black cherry, licorice and dried herb flavors. Fleshy and weighty on the palate while retaining balance and finesse, it finishes long and clean with lingering notes of plum and blackberry.
Vinous: 94 Points
Darkly floral and earthy, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate wafts up with a beguiling blend of cocoa-dusted black cherries, grilled herbs and ashen stones, all complicated by a hint of flowery underbrush. This is texturally thrilling, both velvety and energetic, with cool-toned acidity and elegantly ripe red and black fruits that swirl throughout. It leaves a minty freshness and a coating of fine-grained tannins, finishing long and structured yet still remarkably fresh.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The 2021 Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon contains 9% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot, aged for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It has pure aromas of cassis, graphite and licorice, with soft earth and floral undertones. The palate is smooth and lush, with ripe blue and black fruits and a long, savory finish. This way overdelivers for the price!
Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points
The nose on this wine is herbal with anise, oregano and pencil-shaving aromas, while blackberry and cocoa provide depth. Fennel pollen and roasted nut flavors meet with rich berry on the palate, where tannins are light but present.
