Clos Haut-Peyraguey - Sauternes 2022 (Pre-arrival) (750ml)
This wine is an example of the excellence of Sauternes wines: powerful, structured and elegant, with notes of fruits and intense flowers, with great aging possibilities.
Clos Haut-Peyraguey Description
Clos Haut-Peyraguey is nestled at the highest point of the Bommes hill. Its exceptional terroir and unrivalled exposure make Clos Haut-Peyraguey a wine of great subtlety, a nectar of lightness and refinement. Since 1618, when the first grapes were harvested, Clos Haut-Peyraguey has enchanted connoisseurs of fine wines, always able to recognize exceptional nectars of single elegance.
Vinous: 95 Points
The 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey is such a classy Sauternes. Airy and beautifully lifted, Clos Haut-Peyraguey impresses with its total understatement and class. Lemon confit, jasmine, tangerine peel and crushed rocks are finely sketched. From start to finish, the 2022 is an absolute delight. I especially admire its energy.
James Suckling: 94 Points
Excellent harmony here from this Sauternes, showing nice touches of beeswax, white mushrooms and spices from the botrytis to the sweet lemons, dried pineapple and golden berries. Lightly waxy and unctuous, with fresh, medium acidity and enough substance to balance the sweetness. Medium-to full-bodied with a long finish. Drink or hold.
Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
Candied fruits and orange zest are showing well in this textured wine, along with the core of botrytis. The contrasting acidity gives the necessary freshness and aging potential.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
A breezy style, with a beam of peach, Jonagold apple and elderflower honey notes laced with white ginger and jasmine. Stays fresh and lively through the finish. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
Notes of ripe pear, white peach and flowers preface the 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey, a medium to full-bodied, juicy and tense Sauternes with bright acidity but lacking depth and personality. This blend of 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in three tries from October 7 to October 27, with a yield of nine hectoliters per hectare.
