Chateau Paveil de Luze Description
Château Paveil de Luze is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. The vineyard, which has existed since the 17th century, has been the property of the Barons de Luze since 1862. The 6th and 7th generations of the family continue to produce wines of great distinction combining finesse and elegance.
Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points
Young but already elegant and complex, this wine is destined for long-term aging. Ripe blackberry fruits and serious tannins will take time to mature. Drink from 2025 when this wine will be in balance.
James Suckling: 91 Points
Fresh blueberry, blackberry, tea-leaf, cocoa and crushed-gravel aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Elegant and refined.
Wine Spectator: 91 Points
Fine-grained, with crushed plum and cassis notes carried by a graphite note before extra black tea, tobacco and warm earth accents fill in on the finish. Latent length too. Nicely done.
Vinous: 90 Points
The 2018 Paveil de Luze has a clean, precise bouquet of black cherries, cassis and light violet aromas, very well defined with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and linear, with a tobacco- and cedar-tinged entry and a fresh, marine-influenced finish. This is a finely crafted Margaux that should give a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Paveil de Luze gives up fragrant mint chocolate, red roses and cedar chest scents over a core of baked black cherries, warm cassis and preserved plums. Full-bodied with plenty of juicy black fruit, it has a plush texture and plenty of freshness, finishing perfumed.
