While brick in color, the wine has an engaging forest floor/cedar/smoked meat quality and a Right Bank Merlot-like warmth to it. Medium bodied, balanced acidity, and moderately lengthy finish. A great find in the hard-to-locate 1969 vintage. "Off year" Moutons will always be a bit pricey, as the scarcity of bottles from these years has driven up the price to collectors. Enjoy the 1969 Mouton — but don't linger over it: the wine should be drunk within one to two hours after opening. The artist who made the label is Joan Miró.
