An intense garnet-red. A bewitching nose of blackcurrant, strawberry, cherry and spicy notes. Explosive on the palate with great freshness, the black fruits stand out, the tannins are supple and mellow. Sapidity and fine acidity are its hallmarks. Long finish.
56.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 2.5% Cabernet Franc
Chateau Langoa Barton Description
The plots that compose the Château Langoa Barton terroir overlook the river. The splendid slopes of quaternary gravel bring the grapes to full maturity and then they undergo a rigorous selection process before being chosen for the Langoa Barton. The plowing is traditional, without weeding or herbicide. The grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon 54%, Merlot 35% and Cabernet Franc 11%.
James Suckling: 97 Points
Deep fruit, dark spices and graphite with wide yet polished, linear tannins. Full-bodied and intense with depth and structure. Long and chalky at the end. Big wine.
Wine Spectator: 95 Points
This is a suave rendering of the vintage, offering a vivid beam of boysenberry and blackberry puree that's gently succulent and generous in feel but stays racy and defined by an underlying iron note. Violet, ink and anise accents are infused throughout, lending brightness and range through the pure finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Wine Advocate: 95 Points
The first vintage produced in the estate's new winery, which more than doubled the number of vats, permitting sub-plot by sub-plot vinification, the brilliant 2022 Langoa Barton offers up aromas of dark berries, cassis, violets and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy palate endowed with terrific depth and tension. Polished and penetrating, it should match or even surpass the 2019 and 2016 vintages, and it is sure to be one of the more intelligent purchases of the en primeur campaign.
Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
Ripe and juicy, this wine also has a fine structure. Rich black fruits set the scene for the wine's future with tannins and acidity marching together.
Vinous: 94 Points
The 2022 Langoa Barton has a wonderful bouquet that has really blossomed since I tasted it from barrel. There is still a trait of Margaux thanks to its wilted violet element, but there may be more graphite and tobacco tones now the wine is in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a precise, sensual finish. It's fresh and definitely a more elegant Langoa compared to recent vintages. Bon vin.
