Bollinger - Brut Special Cuvée NV (375ml HALF BOTTLE)
Bollinger Description
To the eye: A golden color, distinctive of black grape varieties. Very fine bubbles.
Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
The Bollinger style is always rich, food friendly and impressive. This wine is all of those things, with power and intensity of flavor along with ripe fruit, a layer of toastiness and a dry aftertaste. This is a style of wine that can take even more bottle aging. Imported by Paterno Wines International.
Burghound: 93 Points
Outstanding There is lovely complexity to the distinctly yeasty nose that combines high-toned green apple, pear, white flowers and gentle citrus nuances.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
Very elegant and refined in texture, with fresh, focused acidity finding fine integration with the layered notes of patisserie apple, black currant, smoky mineral and biscuit, complimented by hints of lemon zest and honey. Lingering finish. Drink now through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 5,000 cases imported.

Deep aromas of ginger, toffee, butter and nutskin; reminded me of maturing white Burgundy. Full-bodied and intense, with flavors of toasted bread, spiced apple, baked pear and nutskin. Sappy, deep and strong in extract; this has impressive palate presence. Finishes with excellent subtle persistence. A particularly harmonious bottle of Bollenger, and a perfect dinner-table Champagne. 91 pts. $45. 11/02.

Disgorged six months ago, the latest rendition of the NV Brut Special Cuvée was bottled in 2015, and while its core derives from the 2014 vintage, it contains fully 60% reserve wines. The wine wafts from the glass with a classic bouquet of apples, pear, walnut oil and clear honey, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's broad-shouldered and Pinot Noir-driven, with a pinpoint mousse, nice tension at the core and a delicately chalky finish. Gilles Descotes commented that one of his biggest challenges is finding enough wine raised in wood to make the Special Cuvée in years where Grandé Année is produced?nd to that end, Bollinger is significantly expanding its barrel program to ferment even more base wine in used oak.
