James Suckling: 96 Points
Golden apple, yellow plums, and a touch of banana peel followed by chamomile tea leaves, hawthorn, browned toast and seductive sweet baking spices. Medium- to full-bodied and creamy textured with soft acidity that beautifully balances out the wine. Very precisely framed with underlying herb and mineral layers. Aged for 11 months in 60% new French oak. Predominantly from the vineyards in Oakville. Drink or hold.

In a first, this vintage incorporates 15% Oak Knoll sourced fruit in addition to its traditional Oakville fruit. The 2022 Chardonnay Private Reserve is slightly honeyed on the nose, featuring ripe stone fruit and more modest notes of citrus. As expected, it's full-bodied and opulent but perhaps less over the top than previous years—for better or for worse, depending on your personal preferences. It's a livelier, more food-friendly wine than in the past, with a fine, silky texture and a great sense of elegance and restraint.
Daniel Hernandez-Brun for K&D: 92 Points
The ’22 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay is a fine example of Napa Valley fruit. Its expressive bouquet is classic Napa, with tropical fruit, French toast, and subtle cooking spices soaring from the glass. This is a full-bodied wine, with a creamy texture and flavors of hazelnut and toasty oak alongside the mango and stone fruit notes. It is nicely balanced, rich but not cloyingly so, with persistent oak influence and a lively bounce at the finish.

A lovely note of smoked butterscotch introduces aromatic accents of honeysuckle and orange oil, with crisp Meyer lemon, yuzu and pear flavors, plus a candied ginger grace note. A buttered brioche detail lingers in the background. Drink now.
