A classic Barbera that shows balsamic, iodine, bright violets, slate and crushed stones. The palate is extremely minerally and encased by round tannins. Fresh acidity and a succulent finish.

With fruit from 50-year-old vines, the 2015 Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a sophisticated expression that is made according to unique methodologies that are very similar to those used by Parusso to make Barolo. The fruit is rested before pressing so that it undergoes a light dehydration. It is then vinified with stems to obtain a more present tannin, more depth and a bigger layering effect. The wine opens to a midnight black color and a very ambitious and opulent approach. Instead of being ratcheted down or refined, the Barbera tannin instead is given a more prominent role. The wine shows a very specific feeling in the mouth. It completely covers the palate—front, back and center.
