Bernard Moreau’s son, Alex, now spearheads the winemaking at the former Bernard Moreau, and continue to support the estate’s ‘hands off’ mentality. Their Chassagne-Montrachet is classically elegant. Marked by a rich and round body, the wine is noted with flavors of tart peach, bright citrus, lemon cream, and sweet spice. Elegant and precise, the wine shows flavors of lemon cream, crushed stones, honeycomb, fresh pastry dough, and salt -- think Chevenottes meets Vergers. This rich yet elegant white pairs with a variety of foods, especially poultry and rich seafood dishes. Fleshy yet taut, finished with green apple-driven acidity. This medium to full-bodied stunner is essential for White Burgundy aficionados. Simply stunning!

Outstanding
A more complex if moderately similar nose offers more in the way of white orchard fruit aromas that are trimmed in subtle wood nuances. There is fine mid-palate density to the delicious and appealingly intense medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by bright acidity on the bitter lemon-inflected finale that displays excellent length for its level. This too could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop. Lovely.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village exhibits aromas of pear, toasted nuts, white flowers and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate with tangy acids and a seamless, elegant profile.
