Albert Bichot - Bourgogne Aligote 2022 (750ml)
Bourgogne Aligoté is an appellation produced throughout Burgundy, especially in the Auxerre region, the Côte Chalonnaise (Chalon-sur-Saône region), the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.
The aroma and palate reveal floral notes, mainly white flowers, which evolve into mineral, fruity notes with a discreet almond tone. This 100% Aligote was fermented in stainless steel, and rested for eight months before bottling.
The Bichot family entered the wine business as a negociant (purchaser of grapes and press juice) in 1831, and within a couple of decades purchased their first vines in Volnay. The grandson of founder Bernard, was the first to bear the name,
The company supplanted itself on the international market by the early decades of the twentieth century, with the current patriarch, Alberic, is busy converting to organic viticulture in the Côte-d'Or vineyards, and well as massive upgrades to the cellars.
Convinced that the quality of wine depends on the quality of the grapes, he has focused on developing the upstream control that was undertaken in the 1980s. He secured supplies, and began to expand our vinification capacity and the ageing cellars in 2010.
The company’s vineyards now total 6 estates that cover Burgundy from north to south: Domaine Long-Depaquit (65 ha in Chablis); Domaine du Clos-Frantin (7.3 ha in Nuits-St-Georges); Chateau Gris (3.5 ha in Nuits-St-Georges); Domaine du Pavillon (15 ha in Pommard); Domaine Adelie (7.8 ha in Mercurey); Domaine de Rochegres (5.2 ha in Moulin-a-Vent).
