Kilkerran Heavily Peated has been matured in of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, adding a fruity, sweet character alongside the savory peat centre. The noise is full of fresh apple, strawberry and boiled sweet aromas, with an undercurrent of wood-smoke and toasted marshmallows. The palate offers notes of buttery popcorn, brown sugar , freshly-baked pastry and peppermint creams, before developing into vanilla, butter, toasted oats and sea-salt that linger in the finish.
Kilkerran Description
A departure from our typically lightly peated single malt, our Heavily Peated Kilkerran is released twice per year at cask strength and around 45PPM. Although the maturation can vary, it is typically matured predominantly in Bourbon casks.
Notes of freshly baked shortbread, cream soda, banana loaf and coconut shavings introduce this heavily peated dram. The creamy, vanilla notes carry through to the palate in notes of buttered digestive biscuits and custard creams. The peat is prominent in the finish, along with hints of gooseberries to round off this dram.
